We have recently submitted planning for the extension to a Grade II listed house in Staffordshire.
The brief aims to create a pool building with gym, along with sauna and steam rooms. The building itself is intended to compliment the historic fabric of the existing building, adding a clearly defined 21st century element. The new addition will be defined by a slender structural frame, natural but unmistakably contemporary materials, and a large expanse of glass. To reinforce the difference between the existing grade II listed property and the proposed single storey addition, the plan has been rotated away from the building to address the front lawn. This deliberate shift in geometry defines the new layout, framing the extension within the context of the grounds.
